Title: Artistic Celebration of Life: A Transgender Day of Remebrance Event
Location: Trans-health Information Project 21 South 12th street 10th Fl.
Description: Please join us in celebrating the trans and gender-variant friends, loved ones, heroes and community members who have passed from this life by framing pictures of them and installing these at TIP. Those who have passed are always with us, and they are some fabulous people. This event is an opportunity to join together in artistic celebration, honor our ancestors, and to work together on a project installation. It is not a memorial service or awareness campaign. There will be some snacks, art supplies, Xerox access and photo frames. Please bring any pictures of those you would like to see commemorated on our walls (photos, news clippings, memorial service cards, whatever you have) to hang or xerox, any brief (2 minute) funny, fabulous, wild, or positive stories that celebrate them, and any art supplies or photo frames you would like to share or donate for this event. If there is a picture you have on a computer, but do not have a printer, please email the link or jpeg to rick.tip@gmail.com with the subject heading: tdor pic.

Last year we were excited to help present the first ever People of Color (POC) track at the Philadelphia Trans Health Conference (PTHC). Many of us have been working hard to build upon that space at this year’s conference. Last year we offered 12 workshops. This year there will be more than 20 POC related workshops and more than 10 general workshops with POC presenters which is 3x the amount of programming offered last year!
Now that the workshops and events are in place, we will need your help to make it a success. Please spread the word! The conference is only a couple weeks away and we would like to see everyone there.
Below you will find the schedule of workshops. If you know of any workshops which are being presented and are not included on the list please email us back so we can update it. We are also looking for input as to what events TMAN can help coordinate during conference downtime to complete your overall experience.
Please submit your ideas to info@tmanphilly.com. Also, keep up to date on all POC conference workshops, activities & events at twitter.com/tmanphilly.
Please feel free to forward this message to others. We look forward to seeing you at the conference!

We’re in the process of planning a possible trip to In the Life ATL this summer for a second time. We had a great time last year and put on two packed workshops that educated and enlightened the LGB crowd in attendance. Lil’ Kim performed and we made a splash at the pool party. This year will be a good time too, it’s always a good time when we travel together. If you’re interested in going, we’d like to get a number so we can plan. Please send an email to info@tmanphilly.com or a text message to (215) 259-8049, letting us know you’d like to go. We’ll work out the exact dates as we get a better idea of who’s going and work/time off schedules.
Airfare right now (as of May 4th) is pretty cheap, about $200 – You can use Farecast to track the fares here.
The host hotel is the Loews ATL. It’s brand new, and opened on April 1st. You can check it out here – Loews ATL.
And of course, keep checking the In the Life ATL Website for more information on events and happenings during pride.

This summer TMAN will be doing at least 2 camping trips, and possibly a trip elsewhere. This means it’s time to start saving up and thinking about where you’d like to go. Below are some ideas and some considerations. If you have other comments/suggestions please post them below info@tmanphilly.com.
There are three big holidays in the summer, Memorial day, July 4th, and Labor day. All of these weekends are good opportunities to go on trips, go camping or set up simple cookouts in Fairmount or Roosevelt park.
Camping:

Summer trip:
- At the Beach LA - Biggest feature is a big party on the beach at the end of the pride celebration. However, LA is spread out and somewhat expensive
- Miami Sizzle - The beach is within driving distance, but this trip is coming up soon so there’s less time to save
- Las Vegas – There aren’t any specific events going on here but Vegas is relatively cheap – 5* condos go for around $100 during the summer since it’s extremely hot. There’s gambling (obviously), and fun things to do until 4 or 5am.
- New Orleans Black Pride This year the theme seems to be “Blame it on the Alcohol”. Anyone else been to New Orleans or have any other insights?
