This summer TMAN will be doing at least 2 camping trips, and possibly a trip elsewhere. This means it’s time to start saving up and thinking about where you’d like to go. Below are some ideas and some considerations. If you have other comments/suggestions please post them below info@tmanphilly.com.
There are three big holidays in the summer, Memorial day, July 4th, and Labor day. All of these weekends are good opportunities to go on trips, go camping or set up simple cookouts in Fairmount or Roosevelt park.

Summer trip:
- At the Beach LA - Biggest feature is a big party on the beach at the end of the pride celebration. However, LA is spread out and somewhat expensive
- Miami Sizzle - The beach is within driving distance, but this trip is coming up soon so there’s less time to save
- Las Vegas – There aren’t any specific events going on here but Vegas is relatively cheap – 5* condos go for around $100 during the summer since it’s extremely hot. There’s gambling (obviously), and fun things to do until 4 or 5am.
- New Orleans Black Pride This year the theme seems to be “Blame it on the Alcohol”. Anyone else been to New Orleans or have any other insights?

Camp to be set up by sundown Friday June 19th and return home after lunch on Sunday June 21th
We’ve reserve 4 campsites so there should be plenty of space for anyone who’s said they’re coming.
CAMPING TRIP SUPPLY LIST
We are very excited to be going on our 2nd camping trip. In order to help everyone who wants to come along, we have gathered a list of items you may need to bring with you. The items you need will depend on your own comfort. Please get with others who are planning to go to discuss any items you may be able to share to cut down on the cost (2 or 3 can share 1 tent, one person may bring all the soap for a group and the other may bring all the toothpaste, etc.). If you need help getting any of these supplies, please let someone know so we can arrange to help you. We want to make this fun for everybody!
Walmart has great prices on a lot of the stuff you’ll need, and they have a good selection of stuff you don’t need but that might be nice. If you have questions about which type or brand of an item to buy, don’t be afraid to ask!
Supplies:
Tent
Tent fan
Lantern, flashlight, or headlamp
Sleeping bag, big ass blanket
Sleeping pad, air mattress, or cot
Sheet, pillow
Cooler
Food (things that will not spoil if not on ice – snacks, tuna, nuts)
Water bottle/gallon of water
Folding chair or crate
Extension cord (if you have anything that will require electricity)
Batteries for anything that needs them
Towels, wash cloths
Toiletries (soap, toothpaste, DEODORANT)
Bug spray! (OFF works good, Ben’s works even better)
Sunscreen (cuz we DO get sunburn)
Hat (shade from sun)
Swim wear
Flip flops (beach or shower)
Sturdy shoes/hiking boots
Fishing gear (pole, bait, bucket)
Radio
CDs
